The DeepVersity Coherence Map
Seeing the System Rather Than Its Parts
A systems-based observation framework developed within the DeepVersity Framework.

The DeepVersity Coherence Map is an evolving systems-based observation framework designed to help make the organization of a living system more visible.
Rather than focusing on isolated symptoms, biomarkers, or behaviours, it encourages observation of the relationships that exist between different layers of biological regulation.
The Coherence Map does not attempt to measure health.
It does not diagnose.
It does not classify.
Its purpose is to help answer a different question:
How does this particular living system appear to organize itself?
Why the Coherence Map Exists
Modern health assessment often begins by separating the organism into individual components.
Sleep.
Nutrition.
Stress.
Exercise.
Laboratory values.
Biomarkers.
Each provides valuable information. Yet living systems rarely operate as isolated parts. They operate as continuously interacting wholes.
The Coherence Map was developed to help shift attention away from individual variables and toward the relationships between them.
Rather than asking:
"What is wrong?"
it asks:
"How is this system organized?"
Because understanding often begins when patterns become visible.
The Four Layers
The Coherence Map observes the adaptive human system through four interconnected layers.
These layers are not independent domains. They are different expressions of the same continuously organizing living system:
Regulation
How does the nervous system appear to regulate activation, recovery, and flexibility?
Is the system predominantly activated, subdued, or capable of shifting appropriately between states?
Energy
How is energy generated, distributed, and sustained?
Rather than viewing metabolism only through laboratory values, this layer explores how energy is experienced and how the organism responds to physical and cognitive demands.
Rhythm
Living systems organize themselves through time.
This layer explores sleep, recovery, circadian organization, and the temporal rhythms that support long-term regulation.
Experience
Biological regulation is not only measurable. It is also lived.
This layer explores how the organism experiences itself through bodily awareness, emotional tone, clarity, safety, and subjective experience. Together, these four layers provide complementary perspectives on one adaptive living system.
Pattern Observation
The Coherence Map is built upon observation rather than measurement. Observation asks different questions:
What tends to repeat?
What usually comes first?
Which patterns remain stable?
Which conditions consistently change the system?
Rather than searching for isolated abnormalities, the map seeks recurring organizational patterns. Patterns are not problems to be solved. They are structures to be understood.
Data as One Layer of Observation
Physiological data can provide valuable information. Within the Coherence Map, however, data represents only one layer of observation.
Wearables, laboratory values, HRV, glucose measurements, resting heart rate, and sleep metrics contribute useful perspectives. They do not replace observation. They complement it.
Meaning rarely emerges from a single measurement. It emerges through relationships:
between measurements, between physiology and lived experience, and between patterns observed across time.
Examples
The Coherence Map does not search for isolated abnormalities. Instead, it helps reveal structural relationships that may otherwise remain hidden.
For example:
• Stable sleep with persistently unstable energy.
• High HRV alongside poor perceived recovery.
• Consistent energy despite fragmented daily rhythm.
• Strong physiological resilience accompanied by persistent subjective strain.
None of these observations necessarily represent problems. They represent organizational patterns. Understanding these patterns often becomes more valuable than interpreting any individual variable in isolation.
How It Is Used
The Coherence Map is not intended to produce scores or predefined conclusions.
It functions as a structured observation framework.
It helps organize information and clarify relationships.
Recognize recurring patterns.
Support reflection.
Over time, repeated observation often allows the system itself to suggest where meaningful change may become possible.
Direction does not emerge from effort alone. It emerges from understanding.
Where It Fits Within the Framework
The DeepVersity Framework explores how living systems organize themselves. The Coherence Map explores how that organization may appear within one individual system. The two are inseparable. The Framework provides the conceptual architecture. The Coherence Map provides one practical way of observing that architecture. Together, they connect systems thinking with lived human physiology.

Deep Health Systems Analysis
The principles behind the Coherence Map also inform the individual systems analyses developed through Deep Health Systems Analysis.
Rather than applying predefined templates, each analysis explores how the unique organization of one adaptive living system gradually becomes visible.
